Prams

Feather   Humble Bee

Very pretty perfect Tender. Lightweight, easy to lift on deck. Rows well with up to three aboard. With a suitable tang bolted to the keel plank, so the tow lin and tang are in sheer and low, tows well too. Easy to build. Carry on car roof or inside wagon. Viv Hood built this one.

The pic on the left shows the reason why such a short light pram does so much. Beam, and lots of it. The compound curve that results from the glued plywood planks, combined with the lightweight compound bar effect of the gunwale and inwale gives these lightweight hulls great monocoque rigidity.

This pic shows lay of 6mm ply planks well, as well as an appreciation of the seating.
Note the leeboard. This is weighted and is moved side to side depending on tack. Suggestion: Dagger Box! Unstayed sprit rig is good.

Construction Options traditional

The Humble Bee is really a souped up Feather, wider, longer. The least boat, as with the feather for a given load. Tows rows and sails well or adds to the local aesthetic, hanging from your davits.

Construction Options: traditional plank, strip plank, cold moulded.

Mouse   Granny

Not unlike Joel White's 'Nutshell' but with some differences. A pram like Haumble Bee or Feather, but fewere planks per side and chined.

Construction Options traditional

A larger version of Mouse, in much the same way as Joel White had the two nutshells, Granny relates to his 9'6" version.
