I was infrequent contact with iain, around the time that he was developing this range. It was at the time of one of the early Glen raids, of which iain is so enamored, and he was also operating under the slight distraction that the boats had to be built in a school by school kids and be ready in two weeks.....!

That he did the (rough) drawings, and the teacher, Adam Way, and the kids finished two 17 footers and from a distance they look great, and they work well speaks volumes for all concerned.

And especially the boats themselves.

Nice, simple pretty double enders, two planks a side.

Rigs are balanced lug, only. Gorgeous.

She has the same construction as the 15 flat bottom with two wide planks each side only longer. This little daggerboard boat will row and sail with ease. She's light, simple, quick and responsive whether rowed or sailed. The Skerrieskiff 17 is light enough to be dragged over wet grass and shallow enough to glide up onto the beach.
